Kevin Mulligan qualified as a dental surgeon from the University of Malta in 1995. He left Malta for the UK two years later where he trained in oral surgery, passing his Fellowship examination in Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1998. He subsequently commenced training in the speciality of orthodontics at the Royal London Hospital in London and read for a Master of Science degree in orthodontics from the University of London, passing the examination in 2001. He passed the Membership examination in orthodontics of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons of England and Edinburgh in 2002.
